Americans are hesitant of the new healthcare reform law which the Obama administration has developed and presented to the American people. A poll, conducted by Langer Research Associates on behalf of ABC News/Washington Post discovered a serious lack of enthusiasm for the new legislation. As a matter of fact, the reform’s popularity has taken a serious nosedive of late. In November of 2009 less than a majority, 48%, supported the healthcare reform bill, its strongest showing ever. Today, according to the poll, support has dropped to 43%. Fifty-two percent of those polled say they are actually opposed to the reform bill, making the 9 percentage point gap between the yays and nays the largest on record since the active debate began in the summer of 2009.This worrisome situation comes on the heels of the ruling of a federal judge that invalidated a crucial aspect of the health care reform package.Americans have never been crazy about healthcare reform, consistently expressing satisfaction with the various aspects of the healthcare system as it now exists, including their current coverage, the quality of care they get now, and even what they pay. What Americans seem to be most worried about the new law are its rules, how it will be funded, and how much the government will interfere with their health care.
