Voicing her dislike of Saturday night’s White House Correspondents’ Dinner, ex-Alaska Governor Sarah Palin tweeted to Twitter
“That #WHCD was pathetic. The rest of America is working our asses off while these DC assclowns throw themselves a #nerdprom.”
Twitter limited Palin to just 140 characters of dismay, but on Facebook she could let all her frustrations out, not holds barred:
“Yuk it up media and pols,” the former GOP vice presidential contender posted “While America is buried in taxes and a fight for our rights, the permanent political class in DC dresses up and has a prom to make fun of themselves. No need for that, we get the real joke.”
The annual “nerdprom” took place at the Washington Hilton this year, with many of America’s most celebrated in attendance, including stars from Hollywood, politics and other popular media outlets.
Some observers stated that President Obama’s traditionally self-deprecating and irreverent jokes were even funnier than Conan O’Brien’s quips, who is a comedian by profession, unlike Obama, who is the President of the United States.
Here is a sampling of the kind of humor which was simply not funny enough for Sarah Palin:
• “I get it — these days I look in the mirror and I have to admit, I’m not the strapping young Muslim socialist I used to be,” Obama said.
• “I remember when Buzzfeed was just something I did in college at 2 a.m.,” he said.
• “I know CNN has taken some knocks lately but the fact is, I admire their commitment to covering all sides of the story, just in case one of them happens to be accurate.”
• “David Axelrod now works for MSNBC, which is a nice change of pace, since MSNBC used to work for David Axelrod.”
