It’s a bit unorthodox, but the White House is trying to come to the people wherever they are. And if that’s watching Extreme Makeover, the ABC television show, then that’s where they’ll be. This fall, First Lady Michelle Obama will, apparently, be a guest star on the show ‘Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.’
Two-Hour Special
The two-hour special was already taped in July and will appear on television in October. It features Michelle Obama working in a greenhouse and children’s playhouse in a homeless women veterans resource center in North Carolina. If you’re wondering how ‘Extreme Makeover’ managed to get such a guest star, you just might be surprised to hear the answer. The White House actually approached the program producers, as reported by a White House aid.
Creative Approach to Reaching Out
As White House deputy press secretary Jamie Smith said, President Obama and the First Lady “are always looking for creative and even unconventional ways to communicate with the American people to convey their deep and abiding commitment to strengthening our economy, building healthy communities where all children have the opportunity to thrive and supporting our troops and their families.”To find out what Michelle Obama talks about on the show, you’ll have to tune in. Sources who are familiar with the taping, however, reveal that she discusses her Joining Forces initiative. Tune it to see what else she shares.
