Vice President Kamala Harris certainly understands the figurative idea of reaching for the stars, and now she will be in charge a program that literally does so. It was announced recently that the Biden administration will continue the National Space Council work that President Donald Trump revived in 2017. Chaired by Vice President Harris, the program will focus on STEM education, cybersecurity, responsible behavior in space and more.
As VP Harris said, “As I’ve said before: In America, when we shoot for the moon, we plant our flag on it. I am honored to lead our National Space Council.”
As one official explained, the basic focus will be “national security, basic science, technological development, contributions to US economic growth and the commercial sector will all be maintained.”
