The two alternative candidates, Gary Johnson of the Libertarian party and Jill
Stein, the Green Party candidate did not make the cut to be included in the presidential debate scheduled for September 26. That fact has not deterred the candidates’ determination to make a difference in the American political landscape.
Speaking on the news program “60 Minutes” Johnson and his running mate William Weld agreed that they are “going to alter the course of this election whether or not we’re in the debates.”
Johnson stated that at least 70 percent of Americans don’t even know who he and Weld are. The former New Mexico governor also said that he was taking votes away from both Clinton and Trump.
“This is both sides, man, this is both barrels,” Johnson said. “I’m not going to lose one minute of sleep ruining this two party monopoly that is going on. I think they are dinosaurs and I think we’re the comet in this whole equation. I’m glad for it.”
Weld, former governor of Massachusetts, disagreed and said that he thought their campaign would probably hurt the Republican candidate’s chances more.
