The US presidential election is only a bit more than one week away and it seems the two candidates are running a neck and neck race. According to the latest polls, leaving out the undecided swing, or battleground states, Obama has a slight lead over Romney with 237 electoral votes most likely going to the incumbent, and 191 almost certainly dedicated to Romney.
But the swing states are still a fly in the ointment for both candidates, and both will try their hardest to convince voters in those crucial locales that a vote for them is a vote for a better next four years for them, and for America. The states still fence sitting include Colorado, Florida, Iowa, Nevada, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Ohio, Virginia and Wisconsin.
Counted all together the swing states represent the voice of 100 Electoral College votes. Romney will need to get at least 79 of those 100, since a candidate needs a minimum of 270 electoral votes to win.
They next 10 days should be quite a roller coaster for residents of the swing states, not to mention our intrepid candidates.
