Recently retired basketball hero Shaquille O’Neal said on Monday that he considers President Obama to be doing a “fabulous” job running the country, and is betting that he will be the winner in the 2012 race for the country’s highest office.
O’Neal was joined by several others of the nation’s famous in supporting Obama’s candidacy. Along with “the Shaq,” who retired from professional basketball this past year, the singer, model and entertainment rogue Lady Gaga threw in her make-up in support of the president. Actor Tom Hanks said he will vote for Obama, and so did Magic Johnson, another basketball superstar and hall-of-famer.
“It’s a hard job … You can’t please everybody but I think he’s doing a fabulous job,” O’Neal said. ”The world is in a little bit of turmoil right now — the economy’s down — but … he’s going to pick it back up and I think he’s going to win this next election.”
According to President Obama’s campaign website, a group of current and former NBA star players will participate in a fundraising basketball game in Washington DC on December 12. So far the lineup will be; Magic Johnson, Carmelo Anthony, Vince Carter, Alonzo Mourning and Jerry Stackhouse.
