Apparently, if you want to make a good living, you might want to join the White House staff. Since 1995, the White House has been required to make a list of titles and salaries of every White House Office employee public to Congress.
Public List of White House Pay
With President Obama’s commitment to openness, the report has been made public this year to the press. Along with the title and salary details for the administrative officials, the report also shows those details for the Office of Policy Development, which includes the Domestic Policy Council and the National Economic Council, as well as the White House Office employees.
Well Above the National Average
The median household income in the United States in 2009, according to the Census Bureau, was $49,777. At least 21 employees on the White House list make $172,200, more than three times the national average. This is the top salary allowed and it includes Jay Carney the White House press secretary; Valerie Jarrett; the counterterrorism adviser John O. Brennan; the national security adviser Tom Bonilon; Obama’s top lawyer Kathryn Ruemmler; his chief political strategist David Plouffe; and many others.Get a look at the complete list here.
