In an elegant effort to patch up some bad feelings which have developed over the course of the past year with China, a lavish state dinner is being planned for this coming Wednesday when the Chinese President Hu Jintao is due for a diplomatic visit.President Hu will be in the United States for four days beginning on Wednesday with his much anticipated trip to Washington. This visit is the first for a Chinese leader to the U.S. in thirteen years, and the state dinner is expected to be the highlight.After Washington the Chinese leader will be off to Chicago for two days. The mayor of Chicago, Richard Daley is also planning a gala dinner for the Chinese dignitary as well as visits to a Chinese spare parts factory and a Chinese language school. In Daley’s words the visit is of utmost importance, considering China’s rise as a global economic giant to be contended with.
“It is a big deal. Big, big, big, big. Big deal,” Daley said.
